CRT & The Environment
The environment in one way or another makes daily headlines across the world, with the issue of global warming at its heart and the recognition that the planet’s resources are precious.
Timber in Construction
Timber is a natural, renewable, biodegradable, non-toxic and recyclable. Timber gives excellent levels of natural thermal insulation. When sourced from certified well-managed forests there is no better building material in terms of impact upon the environment.
Predominately our timber comes from Nordic Countries where forestry is controlled by strict government licence. CRT continue to use sustainable raw materials, which are sourced from suppliers who invest in sustainable timber certification schemes, commonly known as Chain of Custody. This enables us to prove that the source of our timber is sustainable.
CRT’s environmental commitment also runs through site management. Where possible, a quantity of timber waste is used for heat and power, while wood shavings are extracted, filtered and then sold on for re-use to help minimise wastage.
Proud PEFC Supporter
The PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is committed to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third party forest certification. Sustainable forest management is based on environmentally, socially beneficial and economically viable management of forests for present and future generations. CRT are a proud PEFC supporter.
